About

The Quiet Fold is a small collection of loungewear, blankets and objects for the hours between two and four in the morning.

The name

A fold is the walled corner of a field where a flock is put at night. Not a solution to anything out there in the dark — just somewhere with an edge to it, where the weather matters less and nothing is coming. That is the whole idea, and everything here is in service of it.

The fold line

One pattern runs through the collection: horizontal bands that swell and fall, taken from the way folded country stacks up at dusk, one ridge paler than the next with the mist sitting in the dips. Near-black, deep plum, slate blue-grey and bone, with fine pale pinstripes drawn between the bands.

It is printed onto the cloth before anything is cut, edge to edge, straight through where the seams will be. Which means where the bands land on your piece depends on where your piece came off the roll. Two people in the same coat are not wearing the same coat, and nobody can be sold the one you have.

The mark

A circle with one fold across it, and the part below the fold filled in. It is the only mark we use, it is never stitched onto anything, and it is small wherever it appears.

How it is built

Our knitwear and soft goods are printed and sewn in Vietnam. Our mugs are printed in the United States. Each product page lists its origin and how long it takes to reach you.
